Happenings: Celebrating Our Community

Autumn 2026

Rebuilding and recovering doesn't happen all at once — it happens one ribbon cutting, one reopened door, one familiar face behind the counter at a time. In the months since the Palisades Fire changed the landscape of our coastline, Malibu and Pacific Palisades have been writing a remarkable next chapter, and it's one worth celebrating.

In this pictorial, we take a look at the gatherings, grand reopenings, and community milestones that are bringing our neighborhoods back to life. From beloved local businesses welcoming customers once again to the events that brought neighbors together to share resources, stories, and support, these moments capture the resilience and heart of a community determined to come home.

Also celebrated this issue: Free-est by Free People's grand re-opening, with thanks to local partners Palisades Garden Cafe and Main Street Flower Truck; and the first day of school at St. Matthew's Parish School, which serves students from age 2 through 8th grade.
